Fall 2025 Volunteer Policy & Roles
Evergreen Little League is powered entirely by volunteers. To keep our league running smoothly, every family is asked to contribute time during the season. These requirements are divided by division to make sure responsibilities are fair and manageable.
Families who prefer not to volunteer may choose the $150 buy-out option by surrendering their deposit.
General Requirements (All Divisions)

• Field Prep OR Field Cleanup Day
- Field Prep: Up to 1 hour before the game and 30 minutes after.
- Before the game (1 hour prior): Drag the field, chalk lines, and set bases.
- After the game (30 minutes): Drag the field, put away bases, water the field, and ensure dugouts are clean.
- Field Cleanup Day: 2 hours on a scheduled league cleanup day (dates TBD).
Division Breakdown

T-Ball (2 tasks total)
- 1 Field Prep OR Field Cleanup Day
- 1 Game Day Assistant shift

PeeWee (2 tasks total)
- 1 Field Prep OR Field Cleanup Day
- 1 Game Day Assistant shift

Farm, Minors, Majors (3 tasks total)
- 1 Field Prep OR Field Cleanup Day
- 2 of any combination of: Scorekeeping, Pitch Counting, or Umpiring

- 1 Field Prep OR Field Cleanup Day
- 2 of any combination of: Scorekeeping or Pitch Counting
Exemption Note
Coaches, Team Managers, Team Parents, and Assistant Coaches are exempt from the above volunteer requirements. However, their participation in a Field Prep or Field Cleanup Day is always greatly appreciated, as it encourages team involvement and sets a positive example for families.
Volunteer Roles
Manager/Coach
- PeeWee, Farm, Minors, Majors, Intermediate, Juniors, Seniors, and T-Ball: Each team is allowed 1 Manager, 1 Coach, and 1 Assistant Coach (Team Parent, Manager, and Coach/Asst. Coach cannot all be from the same player).
- No experience necessary. Patience, organization, and a willingness to learn are key.
- Tools provided for practice and game planning.
- Time commitment:
- Lower divisions: 5–7 hours per week
- Upper divisions: 10–15 hours per week
- Plus ~30 minutes of prep for every hour on the field
- Must bring your own scorekeeping book.
- Stay active in the league-wide Team Parent group chat, where league-wide information is shared.
- Special requirements (before coaching/managing): Background Check and certifications (CPR/First Aid, Abuse Awareness, Concussion Awareness, etc.).
Team Parent
- Each team may have 1 Team Parent (cannot be the spouse/partner of a Coach, Manager, or Assistant Coach).
- Assist the Manager with communication to parents.
- Create and manage the volunteer assignment schedule for games.
- Create a post-game snack schedule for the team.
- Manage and collect any team fees (e.g., banners, end-of-season party, coaches’ gift).
- Help build team spirit and a sense of community.
- Attend 1–2 Team Parent meetings (if scheduled) during the season.
- Stay active in the league-wide Team Parent group chat, where league-wide information is shared.
- Coordinate volunteers for league-wide events.
- Track and report team volunteer hours (Volunteer Coordinator will provide updates).
- Must complete a Background Check.
Board Member
- For individuals passionate about serving and improving our league.
- In addition to regular team roles, Board Members help shape the league’s direction and represent Evergreen families.
- Must attend at least 75% of board meetings and remain an active, contributing member throughout the season.
- Responsibilities include:
- Supporting league events such as registration, fundraisers, Trunk-or-Treat, Opening Day, Jamboree/Hit-a-Thon, and Picture Day (events vary by season).
- Assisting with field and infrastructure projects (Field Days, cleanup, painting, container organization, etc.).
- Helping staff postseason or special events (e.g., All-Stars, Sectionals, Slugfest in spring; or other tournaments and community events in fall) in roles such as tournament director, announcer, scorekeeper, field prep, tear-down, or other duties as needed.
Volunteer Deposit Policy
- The $150 volunteer deposit will be returned once all assigned requirements are completed.
- All requirements must be fulfilled by the last scheduled Field Prep Day, which serves as the final volunteer opportunity of the season.
- Families who do not complete their tasks by this deadline will forfeit their deposit.
